I live in North America. It means that if I want to go on vacation and don't feel like going to the other side of the world I'll probably end up in some Spanish-speaking country. It's practical

Not really. I am a French teacher according to my diploma, but I finished the Uni 7 years ago and never used the language since.
And I'm trying to learn Scottish Gaelic just for fun
