I think you were right, 42, about American showrunners portraying American traditionalists. I only can't decide to this day if this is a subtle encouraging and enabling or a criticism so dumb that it becomes enabling...

Fair enough) It's not event that subtle, it's just like... "Well, we of course know who is in the right here but we actually sympathize with the other side so we'll do our best to make it more likable and the other one as dull as possible". Or does the other side (not the good one, but, like, objectively better one...) come off as boring simply because showrunners are dumb?
My guess is that they are trying to please everyone, and while they know that most of the fanbase supports "too left and too liberal kids", they are subconsiously biased towards their "religious rednecks") Does it sound too complicated or not?
